Our Mission

Co-parenting Ikigai's mission is to stop the cycle of domestic violence in former intimate partners with children by improving the co-parents' relationships so they can share the responsibilities of raising their children to live healthier and happier lives. We provide the following free services: mediation with the goal of completing a co-parenting agreement after completion of a 6-week online co-parenting course, a parent-support group for those returning home from incarceration, and 48 hour access to our time-out house for individuals who believe they are on the verge of perpetuating an act of domestic violence.

CO-PARENTING IKIGAI GOALS

DIV 203 of the Kansas City Municipal Court handles all domestic violence cases filed at the municipal level. Kansas City MO in 2020 had 5,058 and 2021 4,868 reported cases of domestic violence. The KC Domestic Violence court launched the Relationship and Violence Prevention (RSVP) docket. This is a diversion program for male domestic violence offenders, ages 18-24, charged with intimate partner violence. The offender and victim are provided services via classes and assistance. Co-parenting Ikigai steps in to work with both parents to enhance their parenting skills through effective co-parenting relationships. Our goal is to reduce the domestic violence recidivism rate, protect survivors from further domestic violence incidents, and improve their relationships so they can share the responsibilities of raising their children to live a healthier and happier life.
